Kelingking Beach resembles a beluga (whale) and is one of the most trending locations to visit because of its serene beauty and scenic landscapes. There’s a steep cliff of 400m that has a stair-like path. One has to climb it down and walk for what appears to be a lifetime to reach the beach. And mind you, it isn’t easy! It will consume every bit of your energy. Scenes of people having fainted because of scorching heat or varying BP levels is common.

Apart from the steepness, what makes this trek difficult is the width of the path which is barely enough for a person to walk. Not for the faint-hearted, even I backed out of the trek after climbing down some 10 steps. There gleaming faces and inflated chests made me want to go back in time to reverse things.


Even though the risk factor is high, swarms and swarms of people go down the stairs to experience the beach closely. The turquoise waters crashing with the camel-coloured sands make a magical scene and only, I repeat; only a true adventurer can take this step.
